Narconon Fresh Start - Where Addiction is NOT A Disease

The Narconon Fresh Start program isn’t just an opportunity for an addicted individual to get clean; it’s a chance to lay the foundation for a much happier and productive future. Unlike other traditional programs which address addiction as a disease, Narconon Fresh Start is one of the only programs available which provides individuals with full resolution to their addiction so that it is never a problem for them again in the future. At Narconon Fresh Start, we know that rehabilitation isn’t only about overcoming physical challenges, cravings and other obvious symptoms of addiction. Any program which merely treats superficial signs and symptoms of addiction isn’t going to have very high success rates. Real rehabilitation is possible when someone understands what prompted their substance abuse, and then taking steps to change their lifestyle and their mindset so that this doesn’t threaten their quality of life ever again.

For some, this can be a very challenging process because some of the changes which must be made are difficult ones. For example, ties must often be cut with substance abusing “friends” who are just going to pull the individual down once they leave rehab. There could be a situation where the individual is in an abusive relationship, and they will never be able to remain sober if they go back to this situation when they leave rehab. This will absolutely have to be addressed and important lifestyle changes made so that the individual’s environment when they return home is conducive to a drug free lifestyle. In some instances, individuals may have a co-occurring disorder such as a mental health issue which will need to be addressed concurrent to any drug issue. Treatment staff will work with clients to get these types of issues effectively addressed so that they can be stabilized physically and mentally if this is the case.

In any event, each individual at Narconon Fresh Start is unique in regards to the challenges they face, and this is why each student’s treatment plan is tailor made to meet these challenges and unique treatment needs. Our clients are called students, not patients, because we don’t want our clients to be in any type of a victim role and as mentioned before we don’t operate off of the belief that our clients are sick with a disease. Rather, we have found that putting individuals in a position to learn about themselves and others so that they understand what prompts negative emotions and reactions can put them back in control of their lives, not as a victim but as a causative force. There are learning steps, activities, and many treatment techniques at their disposal that our students spend months diligently soaking in so that they have the confidence to remain drug free and prosper in life once they leave Narconon Fresh Start. Rehab at Narconon Fresh Start is hard work for our clients and requires a big commitment from them and their families, but is a commitment that will pay off when they can put substance abuse completely behind them.
